music discovery | Jessie, UK Bred.
August 26, 2009Apparently, they go hard in the UK! Not like this is new news to me, but a charming face and storming voice like Jessie’s is a force to be reckoned with. I have to say, I didn’t know they made vocalist like this across the pond. I don’t really know what to say. Blown away by the gust of her voice and amazing off-stage presence, all I can do is sit still. [sitting still] Umm yeah. I love to find new talent. I’ve never met her but according to her you tube videos and lyrical talent, she seems like a great girl with a good head on her shoulders. Most importantly, this girl can sing her ass off! Heaven’s gift to man. [Hats off] Only issue: finding Jessie’s you tube videos are not easy. Up against Jessie McCartney and Jessica Simpson, her clips tend to get lost in the “popular” search engine. However! Good things comes to those who wait. Be patient and you will find her, just listen for the sound of her voice. She will definitely lead you the right way. =)

music discovery | Brittany Bosco
August 20, 2009About three months ago, I had the pleasure to meet Brittany Bosco at Santos in NYC, which is the funky fun house that sprouts some of the best up and coming artist of our time. Always on the prowl for something fresh, I strolled in, and saw this lovely GA native (currently residing in ATL), on stage ripping the mic. Truthfully, I couldn’t really understand anything she was saying (most venues are like that…sucky sound system), but her presence was remarkable. And as a lady, breaking into the music realm, I admire a great entertainer. Her voice, charisma, and punctuation were unconventionally sharp, and at times I found myself lost inside of her own adventurous world. Moments after she performed, my fellow friend, invited me to meet her. Even in the midst of all the press questions and flashing lights, she was welcoming, delicately witty, and a pleasure to meet. I definitely dig her joint SPECTRUM (btw download my favorite City of Nowhere), which I hear comes in gold aluminum bubble packaging (a downfall of downloading music). She’s currently working on the re-release of SPECTRUM, which will carry four new tracks and video footage to some of her songs. Sooo, yeah, in a nutshell Brittany Bosco is hella dope shit, and she is officially another divine lady on my radar! Get to know her for yourself in this video interview with CDR here.

that’s the way I hate you now.” – B.B. KING
Be There For You (Extended Version)
July 22, 2009until the end of time. <3
Let’s set the record straight. I mean what I say, and I don’t repeat myself. I said it once, so I will never say it again. Yes, that word. Because it means nothing to me. I use it just to illustrate my concept. But my actions will be the basket for this word, supporting it as we journey through life. Don’t get all sensitive on me. Please. Let’s not calculate my every motive. You were never good at math. And things won’t accurately add up. Because it is relative, and we have our reasons. Just BE inside of this, and chill inside of this. That word, vaguely sums up all that we are to one another. The trust, the care, the distance, the sacrifice. The need, the want. I don’t ever want to say it again. It means nothing to me. It’s just a word. I know…someday…you will ask me this again. And my mouth will ignore you. But my heart will show you. These Words.

Natasha Bedingfield
I appreciate Natasha Bedingfield as an artist. I admit, some of her tunes are a bit beatpopish but, her lyrics are dead on! She is blessed expressing emotions in song. That is not something easy to do. With all these similes, metaphors, and whimsical relations, finding exactly what it is you want to say is rough. I aspire to create awesome lyrics in all my material. So I dedicate this entry to her awesome lyrics. Words are powerful, don’t you forget it.
I’m not the kind of girl you bring to mother
I’m not the kind of girl you kiss in public
My manners leave a lot to be desired
At least i’m not a liar. And I’m not about the subtle innuendo,
More likely to throw rocks up at your window
Won’t walk on eggshells so you don’t hear
the crazy things I’m saying when you get near me
I’d rather disappear than be faking it, anywayYou like me, yeah, I know it
You’re so transparent
How you stumble ’round those words so well
You like me, there I said it
Don’t need a dictionary helping me
Cause I can spell.- Natasha Bedingfield, Stumble
Anyone who can touch you
Can hurt you or heal you
Anyone who can reach you
Can love you or leave you-Natasha Bedingfield, Bruise Easily
Read some Byron, Shelly and Keats
Recited it over a Hip-Hop beat
I’m having trouble saying what I mean
With dead poets and drum machines
I know I had some studio time booked
But I couldn’t find a killer hook
Now you’ve gone & raised the bar right up
Nothing I write is ever good enough-Natasha Bedingfield, These Words

A Story About A Couple of Hipsters & Their Friends
July 1, 2009Still filtering through my music. Kind of meshing writing with business and music right now. I can’t seem to get off of music, so now its overlapping. I tend to have a problem with indulgence. Heavy rotation to my ears right now is MGMT. Their album is friggin’ amazing; like its really a big deal. Someone once described 70′s music as dope, like real dope. The sound was so intoxicating, it was pure dope that you sliced, packaged, and distributed amongst the hookers. So on that same note, MGMT’s album, Oracular Spectacular, is like Blue Magic. Song after song, is penetrating, narcotized, and psychedelic. I call them the ‘real’ hipsters (and I use that term loosely), because they remind me of a “contemporary spin on a 70′s hippie”. And they exemplify it in every way! The entire album is filled with electronica mixes and polychromatic symphonies. Four words: mellow, smooth, and ‘far out’. A classic piece for my era. Flowers, butterflies, journey, and laughter. I’m bringing this one back out. My Summer ’09 soundtrack. “Cheers to Adventure!” [drinks clap here]
Was I? I was to lazy to bathe
Or paint or write or try to make a change.
Now I can shoot a gun to kill my lunch
And I don’t have to love or think too muchInstant battle plans written on the sidewalk

Color Me Bliss | Photographed by Keith Selby
A girl like Bliss is super duper cool. Not like Kanye West cool (’cause you know he’s not), but cool like a cucumber…refrigerated. You know the girl from high school, who was mad chill…yeah, she’s that girl. Maybe I am biased because we both have a soft spot for Family Guy. Giggidy, giggidy. But seriously, there isn’t another way to describe her; just know that she is unique. I had the pleasure to have a talk with her about her style, art, culture, guys, Bubblemint Orbit, and Billie Holiday (her pup). She is hella random (hence the title of this post), but there is a harmony to her randomness. Here’s what she has to say about today’s American Fashion in ‘Color Me Bliss‘,
“The best place to see different styles is in the streets of NYC every block is a new runway…Personally, I don’t follow trends. I just wear what I like. Even if it is the same shit I wore three days in a row, or it is out-dated. Who cares? Rebel, rebel, anarchy.”

Thank You!

June 25, 2009My love is like a blanket
That gets a little bit too warm sometimes
I wanna wrap somebody in it
Who can hold me in his arms
Cause when it got a little too hot in there
He was always stepping out for air and he froze
Oh he frozeHe said it’s crazy
How love stays with me, yeah
You know it hurts me
Cause I don’t wanna fight this war
It’s amazing to see me reading through this scene
Of love and fear and apologiesYesterday he looked at me
With a tear in his eye and said
I’ll always tell you you’re my friend
I hope I don’t have to lie
Cause it’s clear you love another man
I said you’re damn rightAnd he said
Oh he said,
He said it’s crazy
How love stays with me, yeah… - Apologies, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals
